Do You Need A Mouthguard?

At our practice, Dr. Bishop will explore the cause of pain, ware and breakdown of our dentition, and recommend a therapeutic pathway to reducing or eliminating this crippling problem in your life.

We will also discuss your posture and work position. We may recommend daily stretching or yoga. Whatever it takes to turn angry muscles into happy ones.

If you have noticed the bone around your teeth getting wider, this can also be a sign of chronic clenching and grinding. We will discuss that and what can be done to help.

What Types Of Mouthguards Are Available?

In general, there are two types of mouthguards.

Sleep Mouthguards/Nightguards

Sleep mouthguards, or nightguards, protect teeth from grinding or clenching during sleep, reducing damage and associated symptoms like jaw pain and headaches.

Sports Mouthguards

Sports mouthguards protect teeth, gums, and jaws from injuries during athletic activities. They cushion blows to the face and minimize the risk of broken teeth, jaw fractures, and soft tissue injuries.

Can You Choke On A Mouthguard While Sleeping?
